Tax time and too much time on the computer

Tax time and too much time on the computer

I have spent the last two days working on our taxes. Yuck! I really detest working on taxes, and that is a bit ironic because both of my parents are CPAs. Continue reading »

My boys going to a meeting

My boys going to a meeting

My favorite men are all dressed up to go to LDS General Conference priesthood session. Today has been a good day of conference talks from LDS general authorities. They spent a lot of time today giving advice about how to raise happy children and how to be good parents.

I am so grateful that the men who are closest to me are good men and follow Gospel principles.

Daffodils after snow

Daffodils after snow

It has snowed a lot this week. It has been cold and the snow has stuck to the ground. It snowed and snowed all day on Wednesday. The following is a photo I took while I was walking to my car after teaching my first class of the day. I was in a skirt and I had forgotten my hat. My hair and ankles got wet and cold. When shopping carts go bad…

When shopping carts go bad...

I need a new vacuum because the old one died. I have been so busy that I decided to prepurchase on Lowes.com and go pick it up. Well, their site is very broken today, and one big problem is their shopping cart. It kept adding thousands of dollars of appliances to my shopping cart. Take a look at the screen shot of the grand total after adding a $150 vacuum and only that vacuum. Click on the above image to better see the grand total. Good thing I look carefully before hitting the purchase button!

I ended up purchasing it on Amazon for a MUCH better price. It will be arriving tomorrow.

I had to discipline a student today

I teach higher education students, and they are all adult learners. For the most part, they do not require behavioral interventions because they are mature enough to be responsible, respectful students in my classes. However, I have experienced bullying from several of my University of Utah students because they wanted me to change their grades to full credit even when they did not earn the full credit. This became disruptive during class two weeks ago when they got no credit for not posting to the online discussion required the day before lecture each week. Two women threw a fit during lecture, and this was especially annoying because my faculty supervisor for the course was in the room. Continue reading »

Spaceman Stewie

Spaceman Stewie

I enjoy Hulu. It really does melt your brain. But have you seen the new Family Guy? The opening is brilliant and beautifully rendered. It is a scene where Stewie is in a spaceship with his teddie bear as they attack Peter’s head seen as a massive space ship.

Kayleigh’s amazing accomplishment

Kayleigh's amazing accomplishment

Kayleigh recently received notice that she has been admitted into the University of Utah’s School of Music program. This is an important accomplishment because it is a very prestigious music program.

I am very excited because I am also a student at the University of Utah. I will be able to help Kayleigh out as she attempts to learn how to be a good college student. She is already an excellent student, but university is different and much more difficult. I am looking forward to helping her with this adventure.

Ben’s new viola

Ben's new viola

Ben has a new viola. He has played it a lot today. Ray and I believe that Ben finds playing his viola quite enjoyable and rewarding, and Ben is getting quite good at playing the viola.

Ben is a member of the Utah Youth Symphony, a youth arm of the Utah Symphony. Kayleigh also plays Bass with this group.

Snow on a Spring Day

Snow on a Spring Day

Today has been a beautiful Spring day filled with snow storms. As is typical this time of year, the snow fell and melted soon thereafter. This is the type of snow storm that I like. Because if it has to snow, I prefer the moisture and warmish temperatures. I do not like the slippery, icy bits we get during winter.

The clouds were awfully pretty when they parted a bit this morning to show some Sun. This is the view from my front yard, when you look up.
