my vitamin d dropped a couple of points & is now at 20 after being on 50,000 once a week of the vitamin d for 3 months. It seems like after I take the medicine, my rings do fit better the day after I take it. I just can't wait until I feel better. I didn't realize I was feeling bad, until I found this site. :o) UGH, On month 4 of taking vitamin d. I went through the summer thinking i'd soak up the sun, and it did not even help. Hoping at some point something will help.

I have low vitaman d -15. I just read about tumors in the thyroid gland. They are caused from vitaman d defiency. It said that if you have a calcium level of 10 or more with vitaman d diffincy, then you do have a parathroid tumor. You have to have surgery. A lot of the scans you take for it does not even show it , but you can have 1 or more tumors. It would pay you to ask your doctor about this. I plan on it.We don;t have to be in pain and have all kinds of problems! I hope this will help!

My vitamin levels were just tested and they are at 13. Usual levels are 35 to 100, 100 being preferred. A nutritionist recommended 20,000 units per day for three days, 10,000 units a day for 3 weeks, then a maintenance dose of 4,000 units per day. I cycle and get quite a bit of exercise outdoors, so that was quite a surprise. Good luck everyone!

Laura, thanks for the awesome shout-out! You are so great. I love that you included Jean Kilbourne's clip too. That stuff is so powerful. These are things we all need to consider, so thank you for helping spread the word!!

I was told that acceptable levels are 30 and above. A couple years after having my son, I started having all kinds of symptoms, fatigue, hip pain, muscle pain, leg and foot cramps, rapid heart rate, asthma, etc, to name a few. Went to several doctors and did so many tests..the thyroid tests were repeated over and over too, but always negative. Then I was diagnosed with sinus tachychardia(rapid heartbeat) but the doctor didn't know what was causing this. I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I kept thinking that this was not right. I was put on medication for both, I kept saying that maybe I am dehydrated because I drink very little water or anything else, a day and hardly drank since I was a kid. Then I found out my vitamin D level was @18 (deficient). After reading about some of the symptoms, maybe this is the real culprit and the lack of fluid intake as well. I've been on a 50,000iu supplemnt once a month for almost a year and I am in the sun most weekends for hours, yet my level is only up to 24.

I was just told today that I have very low vitamin D. I had a near fainting spell last week at work, while at the same time being nauseous and clammy. I finally went in for my physical! My new dr. is great and ordered a lot of blood work. I am now starting the 50,000 units once a week for 8 weeks of Vitamin D. I think I am going to start feeling better in so many ways--I've been suffering for years with IBS, fibromyalgia, depression, irritability and high cholesterol. Today they told me I was borderline diabetic too! What? I have never regularly taken calcium with vitamin D since my hysterectomy in 1997. I am very grateful to get this looked at and to now be very aware of what I can do diet-wise, and sun-wise, I live in AZ and don't lay out much, but I will start putting on a little sunscreen and getting at least 15 minutes a couple of times a week.
This is a great site, thanks! Best of luck to you all--bless ya!

Laura, I am so glad to hear that you are doing well and getting close to being done with school. I am sad to hear that things didn't work out in EDPS but happy that you have found some place that you love. I echo your frustrations with EDPS, hence my departure as well. I finished up my degree (although I went for another master's degree) last summer and I am currently working for the governor and loving it. Best of luck to you!!
