This is a bit of a weird Christmas season. There is very little snow, and it is warmer than normal. I also see my children growing up and spending less and less time at home as we attempt to pull together a holiday celebration.
Earlier this week, I finished my Christmas shopping and got most of the gifts wrapped and placed under our tree. Kayleigh was great in spearheading the tree decoration and even buying new ornaments for the tree.
This year, I have not been so stressed in buying and presenting big gifts for the kids. We had a small budget for their gifts, and ultimately only got things they need. I hope the kids understand that this season is really about remembering the birth of Jesus Christ and love for one another. To me, this holiday is mostly about family and maintaining that important relationship between family members. We spend most of our time together on Christmas eating and talking with family and friends. We should not spend the majority of our time fawning over gifts and wishing we had more.
I hope this holiday season brings happiness and good family relationships to you. I hope you remember the real reason for this season and try to avoid the commodification of Christmas. Ultimately, I wish you a Merry Christmas!
