My oldest daughter turned 19 years old two days ago. It is almost hard to believe it has been that long since I first became a mother. But I am so glad I am a mom to three wonderful kids. It is my favorite role, and I love spending time and talking with my children.
After many years of working through successfully completing the tasks required in doctoral level coursework, I have had to get rid of all the detritus that prevented me from spending time with my family. I had to become a faster reader and fast writer. I had to be willing to study at inconvenient times and be willing to drop what I was doing for school so I can help a family member. Granted, it has taken me a lot of time to get to this point. The effort was worth it as I get to spend lots of time with my kids this summer. I am quite happy right now.
I have particularly enjoyed watching Kayleigh’s Facebook posts the past 24 hours about her adventures as she ran in Utah’s Ragnar.
She ran three legs of this Wasatch Back race, totalling 18 miles. Her last leg finished the race for her team (consisting mostly of family members from Ray’s side).
Because it is an overnight race, she has been up for 40 hours, with only 30 minutes nap sometime last night. What little rest she got during the race was spent in a minivan, so her rest was uncomfortable. I hope she sleeps well tonight. She has a big week of finals coming up, and she needs the rest.
