What does a migraine look like? I wondered this as I was suffering one today. I took this picture of myself after i got to my car and after sitting in classes today.
Yesterday, I had several students in my University of Utah class try to bully me into giving them much better grades than they had earned. This is the second week in a row I had been berated by one student, and the first week I got even worse treatment from another student. They wanted full credit despite turning in their assignments quite late and with low quality.
I seem to have met with the seeming pervasive feeling that they deserve As despite doing poor quality work. They feel that they are owed good grades and that they can abuse their professors to get there. Where is the respect and the willingness to work hard to get grades they actually deserve? I would never treat a faculty in such a way. I not only show them respect because I need their support, but I also show them respect because they deserve it.
