Meeting with Westminster students

Adjunct desk

Today I went to Westminster College to meet with a couple of students asking for help on their class projects. They are required to make a website this semester, and we are at the point where they are starting to have unique problems with their code.

I met my students in the adjunct office. The college has an office where part-time faculty like me have a place to work and meet with students. This office has three desks; two of the desks have computers and phones.

Sometimes, I cannot get to a desk with a computer because other part-time faculty are working at the desks when I arrive. However, we are all cordial and let each other know when we will be off the computers so the next person can work. But I rarely need one of these computers because little useful software is on these machines. For example, there is no web design or graphics software on these machines. I usually pull out my Mac and start working on it so I can grade and work on the syllabus websites I use.
