Small things can make a big difference

I am taking an LDS Institute class this semester. It is a class about the second half of the Book of Mormon. I am really enjoying myself as I take a break from the busy day of doctoral classes and homework.

Rather than carrying heavy scriptures around, I use the LDS Scriptures app for my iPod Touch. This is a wonderful, full purpose app from http://ldsscriptures.com/ that has all the scriptures and LDS Church manuals I could need.

This week, we studied Alma 36-39 where you can find some of the most beautiful passages from the Book of Mormon. In Alma 36, Alma tells his son Helaman about his conversion and testimony of hope and faith. Alma chapter 37 talks about how small things in life can make such large changes. Small things have happened all through my life to make such a huge difference: I met Ray on a blind date set up by his Mom’s twin sister, I merely asked my Master’s degree advisor about a doctoral program and that started me on the road to getting a Ph.D., and my children give me simple kind words to know they love me. Small things do make such a big difference.
