A few weeks ago, I reported that my vitamin D levels were found to be very low. This was the root cause of years of problems with fatigue and other problems. I took a large dose of prescription vitamin D for 3 weeks and I then started taking 1000 IU of vitamin D every day and one adult-dose gummy vitamin every day. I also started taking calcium every day because my joints were hurting so.
I never thought that vitamins would make such a difference! But I am feeling so much better. My joint pain and fatigue are disappearing. I am also able to use my working memory so much better. For example, I am remembering my students’ names so much better and my thoughts for writing are better organized and back to normal.
Vitamin D is made by your skin from bright sunshine, but I have been staying out of the Sun for a long time because of homework and my paranoia of skin cancer.
After all, I had about 15 relatively minor skin cancer spots burned off my hands and arms this year.
I am so light-skinned and I do not tan at all. I never have. When I was young, 10 minutes on a California beach caused a severe sunburn on me. That was a real bummer to a 10 year old really wanting to go sailing with my dad on his Hobie Cat, but he would not take me because of my sunburn problems.
But during my adulthood, I have discovered how much I enjoy cycling for long miles and how much I enjoy working in my garden. I always thought it was just being outside and watching my flowers grow. My flowers give me a lot of joy as I watch them grow and bask in the sunshine. I thought that was why I always felt better after gardening, but it may also be that I am getting more vitamin D from working outside. It is no wonder that pills of vitamin D are making me feel better. Yay!

You mentioned this in class a few weeks ago too. I think you’ve got me convinced. I’m heading to the store to get some vitamins today!
I’m glad! I didn’t mention that vitamin D has also nuked my daily nausea. Thank heavens!
