I am updating my personal blog’s theme

I have spent a week updating this blog, and as usual I have designed the whole thing with Adobe Illustrator and coding with CSS.  It is really shaping up.

I was inspired by a color scheme on Kuler, Adobe’s free color swatch development tool.  I had been working with many color schemes when I came across a teal and rust swatch.

Teal and Rust theme

I took the colors from this theme and added them to my images and to my CSS template.  Watch for updates this weekend as I debug the PHP in my new WordPress template.

I have also used Illustrator to trace an image of my chocolate flowers.  I love chocolate and I love native flowers, so that is the solution I found to personalize this theme.  I used Illustrator to trace the photo and I then simplified it.

Chocolate Flowers as traced

Did you make the chocolate flowers? They look real not of chocolate! I am amazed at your talent! Where do you find the time?

I used Illustrator CS4 to trace a photo of my chocolate flowers from my garden. They are real flowers that smell like chocolate in the morning, and they are also native flowers so they bloom lots. The flower’s name is Berlanderia lyrata and they are wonderful. I bought the flowers from High Country Gardens and they are very healthy.

I will be making a tutorial about how to automatically trace photos with Illustrator. I will post this tutorial on my tutorial blog at http://www.edtechblog.org.

Thank you for your wonderful words!
